Tarot as a mirror, not a prophecy
Tarot cards are full of images that make us think. Draw a card, read about the 22 major arcana, and get to know the history behind them.
Breathe calmly, think about what is on your mind, and draw a card.

From card game to mysticism
Tarot began as a card game in 15th-century Italy, and it is still played in parts of Europe. In 1781 the French writer Antoine Court de Gébelin claimed the cards were an ancient Egyptian book of wisdom, the “Book of Thoth”. There was no evidence for this, but the idea was the beginning of tarot as mysticism.
The best-known deck today is the Rider–Waite–Smith deck from 1909. The pictures were drawn by the artist Pamela Colman Smith, and many modern decks build on them.
How we use tarot
We use tarot as a mirror. The card you draw says nothing about the future, but the image can give you a new question to think about. Try asking: What in this card do I recognise in myself today?
All the cards here are read with gentle eyes. That is why three cards have new names with us: we call the Devil the Chains, Death we call Transformation, and Judgement we call the Awakening. The meaning is the same as in tradition.
